One of the first migrant passerines to return to my area each spring, I always find lots of time to photograph them in the cattail marshes each March. It's just about the only bird life to photograph around here that time of year.
Terrapins live almost their whole life in salt water, under the surface. So I was very happy to find this one that had ventured upon land briefly in order to find a place to lay her eggs. Once she finds a suitable spot, she will scoop out a bit of a depression in the sandy soil, lay her eggs, and leave, going back into the salt water until next year when she will repeat the process.
